From the coast or the Nice hinterland, head towards the Loup Valley in the direction of Gréolières.
Access is via the departmental road that follows the gorges. Several parking points are available depending on your chosen descent configuration.
As this canyon is located in a very popular area during the high season, we strongly advise planning your parking in advance, especially in summer.
Numerous fairly steep paths allow you to reach the Loup riverbed from the road or designated parking areas.
The classic starting point for canyoning is at the foot of the famous Courmes Waterfall.
The progression takes place in a typical limestone gorge environment: cliffs, Mediterranean vegetation, and a cool atmosphere at the bottom of the valley.
The Gorges du Loup canyon offers a primarily aquatic descent with several key obstacles :
Abseils (rappels) on rope
Deep pools
Swimming sections
Narrowed sections
Technical water movements depending on the flow
The character of the canyon varies significantly based on water levels.
During periods of moderate flow, the descent is fluid and highly enjoyable.
In the event of high flow, the route becomes more athletic and requires a strong command of white-water progression techniques.
This is an iconic Alpes-Maritimes canyoning route, prized for its spectacular setting and intensity.
The return journey depends on the chosen descent configuration.
It is generally completed via an exit path on the True Left (TL), leading back to the road or the initial parking point.
Depending on your organisation, a shuttle may be necessary.
Parking: Can be difficult, especially in summer.
Water Movements: Requires a good knowledge of white-water techniques.
Flexibility: All obstacles can be bypassed.
Safety: Numerous escape routes available on the True Left (TL).
